On March 12, 2009, the UCSD Injury Epidemiology, Prevention, and Research Center was officially launched and celebrated at the Faculty Club.  The event was hosted by Chief of Trauma, Raul Coimbra, MD, FACS and Linda Hill, MD from Family and Preventive Medicine, both had been patiently waiting for the celebration.  Multi-disciplinary collaborative scholar teams, all came together to celebrate the current accomplishments and goals. The highlights for that evening included two patients who were both treated for their traumatic injuries at UCSD Trama Center and UCSD Regional Burn Center.

Dr. Raul Coimbra greeted all the guests and proudly explained the overview of the programs.

Dr. Eric D. Kendle, a trauma surgeon himself, was a trauma patient after his surfing accicent and was treated for his injuries at the UCSD Trauma Center.
